Debra Ann Elliott

A Collection of Writing

Mayhem & Magic Interview:

An Interview with Ann Elliott:

Ann, tell us a little about yourself.

I am 47. I am married to David. We have been married almost 22 years. I have four grown children: April, Kevin, Chris and Ashley and one grandson Nicholas. I have been writing since I was 15. Writing has always been my biggest passion. I currently reside in Birmingham Alabama.

Now tell us how long it took to write your book and a little about your book?

This book was a work in progress. Some of the poems were written years ago, some are brand new.

Life Through the Rearview Mirror is a reflection of my life. This book is about the pain, the joy that we all go through in life and how we all tend to look back at what if's. It is collection of life poems.

Your a 'Publish America Author' so tell us what it is like to write for this publishing company and are you writing another book? If so tell us about your current 'Work-In-Progress.

I contacted Publish American two years ago with the idea about publishing my poems and had forgotten about it until a few months ago when I was contacted by them. I decided to give them a chance and sent my poetry to them for publication. My poems were excepted and the rest is history. I have had a positive experience with them.

I am currently working on a paranormal romance series "Grimaldi Curse" under the nom de plume Ann Judson. The first book in the series is Vampires Quest.

How did you come up with your title?

Actually, Life Through the Rearview Mirror was not my first choice. I had to go through two title changes before this one and everyone agreed that that would be the perfect title.

What was the best part of writing your book?

Telling life stories in poetry.

What genres of books do you like to read?

I love romance, mystery, biographies and the list is endless.

Is there an author whose books you never miss reading?

No, not really. I don't really have a favorite.

Your a new author so tell us what it feels like to have your book in hand?

I'm speechless, no not really. I am excited, thrilled, I couldn't stop telling everyone. It is the most wonderful feeling to actually have the finished product in sight.

Tell us about some of your family, friends and what would you like to say to your readers?

My family consist of my husband David, my four children April, Kevin, Chris and Ashley; and my grandson Nicholas.

My friends are very special. I dedicated this book to my online friends and my family. In fact several of the poems in my book are about my family.

What hobbies? Reading, writing, pen palling, genealogy, and cooking.

Do you have time for them now that you're an author? I always try to make time but, sometimes life does get in the way.

How did you keep track of setting, pacing, back story, characters, and will this book be part of a series or a stand alone? With the poetry book I really haven't had to worry about that. I have a couple of poetry books I am working on now.

Okay last but never least. Our readers want to know......what is your favorite meal, dessert, drink, place to vacation, movie and all time favorite book? My favorite meal is Chinese, my favorite dessert in spumoni, my favorite drink is Mountain Dew, I do not have a favorite vacation spot, my favorite movie is Donovan's Reef with John Wayne and I have no favorite book because I love to read everything.

Do you have a set writing schedule? I used too, but with a four year old in the house that's near impossible.

Now leave us with some writing words of wisdom.

"Never give up, now matter what other people may say about you or your words. If writing is your true passion, then you must fulfill your dream."
